Frequently Asked Questions

Q - Are ward Young Women's leaders allowed to come to camp?

A - Yes! Two YW leaders are requested to attend camp to minister to the needs of their girls. Cabins will be provided as separate sleeping quarters for those who wish to attend. Please submit your names to the Stake so we know who to plan on!

Q - Are leaders asked to serve at camp required to pay a fee?

A - No, we are super grateful for the many willing men & women taking time off of work and away from their families to put on camp for our youth. The Stake has generously offered to cover the cost associated with these individuals being at CampZ to offset this hardship.

Q - What does camp cost for the girls?

A - Richland Stake Girls Camp is partially funded by generous tithing donations to our Stake by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Leaders give their time freely without pay, and the facilities are run and operated by the Church. Much of the actual cost of camp is covered, however some  costs associated with camp are covered by the girls attending. Big Adventures, meals, hoodies, craft supplies, etc add up fast! This year the girls have been asked to pay $100 ea. for their fun filled week at camp. If financial need arises, please speak to your youth leaders for Stake assistance.

Q - Where will I sleep at CampZ?

A - Our Stake Camp Directors are working tirelessly to organize every last detail of girls camp. Sleeping assignments have been made but will not be announced until you arrive at camp, incase adjustments need to be made. Campers can expect to be assigned sleeping quarters in CampZ Wall Tents & ward provided tents by age groups. Stake Staff can most likely expect to be assigned in either CampZ cabins or the Lodge. The men attending camp are required to provide their own tents to lodge in, off site from the women.

Q - Are there bathrooms at CampZ?

A - Yes! There are 3 main areas where flush toilets are available at CampZ: the Shower House (which sustained some winter damage but is under repairs and expected to be finished by camp) also in the Lodge, & near the cabins. In addition there are multiple Port-a-Potties or Biffies located onsite, we are camping afterall!

Q - How will we all get to there?

A - Traditionally, transportation to & from Richland Stake Girls Camp has been the responsibility of the individual wards. This year will be the same. Young Women Presidencies are expected to line up drivers to transport campers and their gear to Camp Zarahemla WED June 26th @ 7am, and return to Camp Zarahemla SAT by 11am to drive them home to Richland. Stake Camp Directors will supply each ward with a folder of Permission & Medical Release Forms for their girls, which drivers must keep in the car while transporting campers.

NOTE: YCLs & Overnight Backpackers will be transported to camp by Stake Staff, however their wards are responsible to get them home from camp on Saturday June 28th. A list of all girls that are in these groups will be provided soon.

Q - What if I need to leave camp early for a family reunion?

A - Campers with special transportation needs (ie needing to arrive late or leave early) are REQUIRED to find their own ride to/from camp, and MUST inform their leaders of these plans before hand.

Q - What time are the girls supposed to arrive at camp?

A - Stake Staff, Leaders, & YCLs (driven by Stake Staff) will arrive at camp Tuesday June 24th by noon to get things set up and ready for campers to arrive the following day. Campers (driven by their wards) will need to arrive at camp by 9:30am Wednesday June 25th to get settled in. Camp activities start promptly at 11am with an Opening Firebowl! (Campers who signed up for the Overnight Backpacking Adventure will leave Richland one day earlier, Tuesday June 24th, and end their hike at CampZ in time for the Opening Firebowl Wednesday.)Q - Do we need to bring food to camp?

A - No! Our lead cook Thera Rew of Crestview ward has been planning since January to make sure we are all well fed while at camp! There will be plenty of healthy options, food allergy aware meals and snacks provided throughout the day. We will be eating together as a group in the Lodge: BREAKFAST 8-9, LUNCH 12-1, DINNER 6-7, with snack tubs provided for every tent group & don't forget to save room for something sweet because DESSERT is also on the menu!

Q - Will there be some downtime?

A - Of course! While it is our goal to make sure our campers experience something new and exciting at camp, we also know some of the best memories are made at camp sitting around joking with your friends eating Pixie Stix.
